Default My number one problem with Harleys

Noob here. I've never owned a Harley (BMW guy, but my brother has one) but I didn't join the forum to knock them, just to learn more about them. My unscientific observation is that they outnumber every other brand by far. That's worth paying attention to.

I guess my number one problem with Harleys is the feet-forward posture. I like my feet underneath me. I want to be able to put weight on the pegs if I need to. Does anyone ever alter the riding posture by raising the saddle and moving the pegs back?

Nope... and most of us have hiway pegs/forward controls to get out feet out front even further. They are cruisers/touri bikes. Not sport bikes. I ride other bikes all the time and I do not feel you get any more control with you feet directly under you. Behind you in a sport bike configuration, I would say you do, but I don't ride sport bikes any more.

Dyna family has mid controls, chich keep your feet under you if this is how you perfer to ride. Mostly we ride distance and perfer to stretch out.

To put it into another perspective, Harleys have the American Cowboy style of riding while other have the European Horseback style of riding.

Some Harley models have the pegs underneath you. But most have them forward. I like my feet underneath me when I ride my dirt bike but I love me feet forward when I cruise my Harley. If you tired the forward foot position for a few hundred miles you would see why we find it much more comfortable.

I think if you tried the forward controls you'd like it just fine. I even moved mine forward a few extra inches. Stretched out, laid back cruising is what most Harleys are all about. The v-rod line has a model with mid controls if I'm not mistaken.

My number one problem with Harleys is that there are too many models and my budget is to small to own one of each

My Dyna LR has mid-controls and hiway pegs. Best of both worlds IMHO.

The new XR1200 comes with rear sets. Their are a few companys that offer rear sets for Harleys. But I have only see them for Sporties and Dyna. Here some links.

Notice the peg position on the bike.
