I have experienced this myself... went to a local Honda dealer to pick up a couple of parts for my 86 Magna VF700. When I walked in the door, I overheard a salesman say to another guy "Finally got smart and decided to ditch the Harley I guess..."
Nevermind the fact that I didn't even look in the direction of the other bikes, just headed back to the parts counter. I don't really care for this dealer, but they had my part in stock. My "usual" Honda dealer I get parts from doesn't care what you ride, but that you ride period.
That is when I would have walked up to the salesman and said, "I guess you
don't like MY MONEY, so from now on, I will order ONLINE".

I currently have two bikes, a Roadking and a Goldwing. I am not going to get into a Harley vs. Honda pee'n contest. In my opinion they are both great bikes and I don't much care about your opinion or what you ride. I have two observations: regardless of which bike I ride in on I get treated better at Harley dealerships by a Huge margin. While in the Smokys on the Wing I had a Harley parts guy spend 20 minutes trying to fit every rain cover he had in stock on my bike, after having just left the Honda dealership where the jerk behind the counter just pointed at the wall and wouldn't lift a finger. Also whether I am on the King or the Wing the people I meet who are riding Harleys are more friendly, more helpful, and just plain good folk. Not that I haven't meet good people riding Hondas, I have, but I have met some jerks too. Especially when I am on the King.
Superiority is defined in many ways....I don't consider my H-D's to be superior, but they are practical for my needs. Having owned many different bikes over the years has led me to where I currently am...I wouldn't want it any other way!
