I started riding when I was 9 yrs old, and I can tell you it was no Harley. I've owned many Japanese dirt bikes, got my license aboard a Yamaha XT350, then wanting a change bought the Triumph Tiger 1050, but what it all boils down too, I think, Is a riders attidude, and how a person is brought up. I'm no longer concerned with going fast, or leaning the bike right over, so I'm about to trade the Triumph for a soft tail. I haven't had a Harley yet, and love the sound and build quality of them. I'm hoping to get many years enjoyment and reliability from my new toy. Luke

Reason: changes
I have never cared about owning other bikes, the reason is: my Harleys totally satisfy what it is in riding a motorcycle I have always wanted. My need for a Harley has been with me for a long time, bought my first one in 1962.
Coworker just bought a used Yamaha for 2K. He knows I own a Harley so he started off by saying the Yammy was all he could afford, but he hoped to move up to a real bike once he gets some other debts taken care of. I told him to enjoy what he has and stop worrying about his image. He definitely had a complex, which I just don't get.
If you take Harley, BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki, Triumph, Kymco, Ducati, Vespa, PGO, KTM, Sym and all the rest of the bikes made out of mainland Asia, they will soon represent less than 1 in 5 of all the bikes made. Four out of five bikers in this world won't give a rip about what you, me, or our buddies are riding.
I switched from a BMW to Harley for several reasons and only one was about the bike. 1. My wife was more comfortable on the Harley. 2. Reading in the BMW club mag all the negative remarks about Harleys. I like all bikes I just wouldn't buy all of them but I'm not going to bad mouth them. 3. Almost everywhere I went I saw new Harley dealerships opening. Every BMW club mag had a letter to the editor about another dealership closing. 4. Every charity event I went to I was impressed by the number of Harley riders and the dismal turnourt of BMW riders. Glad I switched. Love my roadie.
I like riding bikes period. I do think my harleys are the best looking. It's like having a matchbox car compared to a Tonka toy. Just looks and feels better in your hands.
