Default There is a strange noise coming from my motorcycle.

I have 380 miles on my bike, and I have ridden off with my kick stand down seven times, I think. Do you think this is dangerous, because I am not paying attention to what I am doing?

I talked to one of my friends and he told me that one time he pulled up to a group of people, and he started talking to them. After a few minutes, he decided to get off his Harley. His kick stand was up, so you know the rest of that story. Have any of youse guyes done this, or do I have a mental problem?

When you first told us the story of getting your bike, and where you were going to park it. I thought you were a hero and should be our next President.

Now I'm not so sure. LOL

It does happen, but usually only once. Most learn pretty fast.

If you rode a metric bike, they have a cut-out switch built into the kickstand. If put into gear and you start to let out the clutch, it kills the motor. You need to start a routine at start-up. Get on the bike, stand it up, kick stand back, start motor, then put in gear.

There is no noise coming from my SB. Too cold and ice and salt on the roads = no riding!

It's just lack of experience, and everybody does it or has done it. I can be dangerous, and should be avoided.

Obviously, you have not read your owners or service manual (j/K). It specifically states "operating the motorcycle with the jiffy stand in the DOWN position".....are ya ready for this? "could cause serious injury or death" LOL. Just about everything in the service manual will kill ya for as many times as they have that stated in there.

BTW, I made that up, but i wouldn't be surprised if it really is in there.

You should consider investing in a center stand. You won't be able to ride with that down.

You have a mental problem for sure! I would make an appt with the Head Dr. before the men in the little white coats come take you away
Once or twice seems like no big deal but 7+ times??? I think I would tie a string around my finger till puttin up the KS became habit!

+1 to that. I'm thinkin' that the kickstand down is not going to help that hardwood floor any.
