This would be over my rear fender issue. It didn't get the base coat painted correctly on I'm guessing 15-20% of the fender. It's two different colors. Part of the problem I'm having dealing with them is that some of it's covered by the seat and chrome fender support. My issue is it's not a nick or scratch, it's in the base coat and quiet a large area. I'm calling it poor workmanship and in my opinion should be covered by the warranty which is for 24 months.
Any way they gave me a nine page print out of their viewing procedure. One of my issues is these pages are not in my warranty pages. How come we have two warranty books? Mines kind of short and sweet. Theirs must be kind of huge.
Any way, I got the customer service number and will probably call. In the mean time I'm getting ready to do pipes, air cleaner, and fuel management. Now all will be after market. I thought about a HD SERT or the new one, can't remember what it's called. Not now. I can't believe we pay this type of money and they won't stand behind their workmanship any better than this.
Any helpful hints on how to procede? I'm not that experianced at talkin' spin. I just thought my better option would be to close my checkbook to HD unless I don't have much other choice.

I would insist a rep look at it. After that you should have no problems, unless he's a blind idiot. Hidden or not the paint is defective. Some of the HD dealers are the worst sobs when it comes to claims, like it has to come out of their own pocket or something.

have had past experiences making this statement all too true
Part of the deal about running this paint issue up the flag ploe with the dealer was to see if I need a new one. Dealer that is. I was thinking of contacting the dealer in Ames to see what they might have to say.
So if I call the number the warranty guy gave me is that when I will talk to a rep? Or is that farther up the chain?
Got a story. Dropped the bike on a sandy turn. Damage to various bolt on parts and the bags - leather FLSTC. Going over the bike with the shop, I point to scratches on the right bag. Mec starts to go on about how cows have various flaws and the warranty won't cover it. I look him in the eye and say "What warranty you talking about?" This is insurance coverage and this is crash damage. Says, Oh. yeah, we'll change it I guess.
Don't deal with the dealership. Call the moco directly. Buddy of mine got his 07 street glide replaced (electrical issues) with an 08 after telling the dealership to **** up a rope and calling the HD corporate direct.
