Fast forward 2 weeks and the passenger foot rest falls off the bike due to a broken bolt. I took the bike to my local HD ( not the dealer I bought the bike) to have the bike fixed and the service manager asked if I had installed the passenger adjustable foot pegs. I told him I thought that was standard on the bike and he informed me that it was an installed accessory. He wasn't trying to deny the fix, just trying to find out how the bolt snapped. I said wow, a stealer giving you something extra. Kudos to the HD dealer I bought the bike from. Today, I recieved a messsage on my cell from the service of the selling dealer and said I had a small outstanding bill that I need to pay before the end of the month. It was for the installation of the passenger foot pegs, $209.00. What would you do? I do have the title to my bike and a bill of sale that says paid in full but I want to do what is fair. I want to maintain a good relationship with this dealer as I get 20% off anything for life. I thought I may offer to pay half and they pay half. ????

If they're not willing to work with you on the price, then the best course of action is to have them take off the adjustable foot pegs, and reinstall your OEM pegs. Then order the adjustable pegs yourself online. Watch out for the service manager in the future. Doesn't seem like a reasonable guy.

If you made an offer on the bike as it sat, with the footpegs on it. Then your offer included the bike as a whole. I would tell them to go get bent if they were rude and didn't accept your $150 offer. If they wanted to remove the pegs fine, just give me $100 for gas and my time and I will bring the pegs back to you. Considering there attitude towards your generous offer and the fact you had to get the pegs fixed by a different dealer after they installed them, I'm not so sure I would want them working on it.

I think I will offer the dealer cost on the peg, no labor. This way they don't make money but they don't loose any either except for about 10 minutes labor. I think that would be a good gesture on my part.

Go and talk with the salesperson and let him know how you feel and what you think is right if he gives you no satisfaction, go to the Dealer, your wife will love them on long rides, my does

I wouldn't even go back into the place after that treatment and no way in hell would I ever trust their service dept near my bike.

I'd tell the owner you were willing to pay until the service manager became rude. Now, You're not paying. Tell the owner that the service manager just cost him money.

As soon as the guy tried to get $hitty with you, all bets are off, IMHO.
