question for all fi bikes
what does everyone keep their idle set at on ther fuel injected bikes? i know that its suposed to be at 1,000 rom,s but i think it sounds better a little lower. let's hear everyones opinion on this!

You need to keep it at 1000 to keep enough oil pressure so you don't starve the motor of oil which will increase friction and subsequently over heat & fry that baby. OR, get the deep fryer attachment for your crancase and you can make french fries while you are idling....of course they taste a little funny with the Syn3

I have a friend that is a MC mechanic, and he hated the idle on his FI Softtail, so he quit riding it, sold it and bought the carb model. My Indian (S&S 88" motor) idles a little slower, and does sound pretty cool, but also gets a new battery every 2 years, while the Harley's battery is on it's 4th year without any problems. Might be a connection....

Must be an FI thing. I have an 06 EG standard with a carb. Idles nice at 850-900rpm. I know there is oil pressure, I can see the gadge. I know its charging, can see that gadge too. Nice lopy idle for a stock bike.

I think the book calls for a range of 950 to 1050.

My FI 88B has the SE stage 1 download and idles higher than carb motors, especially prior to warm up. However, after it is at operating temp, the idle seems to slow down a little.
My local mechanic said it is for the battery charge.

mine seems to be idling HIGHER after it warms up...mentioned it to the dealer and they said it was an 'EPA thing'...are they yankin me? never had an EFI sled before, so didn't argue with them...
