Thumbs up New Rules............Myrtle beach

These Rules will be in effect year-round
Not just for the Month of May
The City of Myrtle Beach passed restrictive ordinances targeting the May rallies, which brought tens of thousands of visitors (tourist) to the city. The City of Myrtle Beach has never been a sponsor or host of Bike Week. These new ordinances apply ONLY inside the City Limits of Myrtle Beach.
*** There are no events (vendors) inside the city limits.
*** All events (vendors) are outside the city in Horry County, Murrells Inlet or North Myrtle Beach.

No Events Cancelled -- All Outside the City of Myrtle Beach
As many of you have heard or received information on the events being cancelled. Not exactly true - The events will take place in the County and surrounding Counties just not inside of the City of Myrtle Beach. The City of Myrtle Beach has begun a media campaign designed to deter the respectable, law abiding motorcycle enthusiast from coming to the area. There are businesses inside the City limits of Myrtle Beach that do support and welcome Motorcycle Enthusiast. The City of Myrtle Beach can't stop you from visiting and supporting the businesses that support Bike Week. Looking forward to seeing everyone again in 2009.

We have listed links below to the city and to county reports.

http://www.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/newordinances.html - Detailed listing of the new ordinances implemented by the City of Myrtle Beach. These are not in effect in Horry County or surrounding counties.

http://www.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/newlaws.html - The brief version of the City of Myrtle Beach's new ordinances. Plain English version.

http://www.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/visitors.html - Description of the City of Myrtle Beach. You can see how small Myrtle Beach is in relation to Horry County.

http://www.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/contacts.html - City of Myrtle Beach Contact info. E-mail addresses to send your thoughts to.

http://www.horrycounty.org/hot_topics/08SprAfterActionRpt.pdf - 2007 After Action Report put together by Horry County Staff. Shows that the rallies are not a problem in Horry County.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horry_County,_South_Carolina - Horry County Information (including all of the communities in Horry County). This will give you a better idea of what makes up Horry County and that there is much more to the area than the City of Myrtle Beach.

http://www.sciway.net/maps/cnty/horry.html - Map of Horry County

PDF --- Map Showing the City limits of Myrtle Beach
Many of you have asked is there a map showing exactely where the city limits is. This link - http://www.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/PDF%20forms/City%20Limits%20Map.pdf
will take you to the City Map. Note --- This is a very large file and it will take a while to upload on many computers.

These rules might change after today. The county judge is hearing the one lawsuit regarding some of the new ordinances.

I got to thinkin the other day...envisionin the city planners and council members sittin 'round discussin ways to increase tourism and revenue...when one of 'em says sumthin along the lines, "Hey, lets start a bogus campaign to keep the bikers out...that should double attendance this year."
