Has anyone every purchased 6x8 trailer from Lowes home inprovement to haul your bike. Open trailer for about $600. Just wondered how safe this little cheap trailer is and if it bounces going down the highway.
I need a trailer so i can take my bike on family vacation (sorry fellows, cant carry everything on the bike so it must be trailered)... I dont plan on using the trailer more than once or twice a year and i hate to spend $2000 on a box trailer.
on e-bay ...there is a outfit by springfield missouri, who sells a 16 foot tandem trailer. 800 dollars ? or close to that.
twice the trailer, and can use it for gob's of other stuff. even haul your car.
i have one. and its been a great trailer. i use it all the time for everything around the farm.
I spent about $600 for a trailer from SAMS Club. It works perfectly and does not bounce or sway. Use it for other things and lend it out often. Not sorry that I bought it. I did drill holes in the sides and installed large eye bolts to hook my straps to. It also has a drop down tail gate to load. Like I said, it works perfectly and will haul 2000 pounds.
I got my an open 4x8 for 700 when I was in NY uhal wanted 400 to rent one, so I just went to a trailer shop and bought one, that was two years ago and still like new Ive used quite a few times
I bought one from Walmart about 12 years ago.......2 sets of tires later....that old trailer is still going strong. It probably has 100,000 miles on it. As long as you buy one that is well built, you should be ok....
Just make sure the tires are fairly large otherwise you can cook the bearings like I did with my little 4x8 from home depot years ago. It was a great little trailer even folded up but couldnt handle a hundred on the highway.
