Oil Level Update
If you read my previous post I had problems with my dealer and a low oil level after only 1700 miles from the last service.
This is what happened to me on Saturday:-
Took a ride out with a friend and he mentioned that my brake light was flickering on and off so we decided to pull into Robin Hood Harley Nottingham (Sherwood Forrest and all that stuff) any way we were just looking at the front brake lever when the dealer principle came across and asked us if we had a problem. when I mentioned the brake light he called a technician over right away to take a look. At the same time a little old lady wearing a Harley shirt made coffee for us and we were made most welcome, in fact I member of staff who I bought a shirt from a while ago came over as he recognised me and said hello. Well the techician rectified the problem in 10 mins so I mentioned the oil usage problem and he new all about this situation and he said that if I book it in for its 5000 mile service he will produce an oil consumption chart for me to check the levels every 500 mile and if there was a problem then they would sort the valve seals out. This guy was so knowledgeable, friendly and informative that it instiiled so much confidence in me to let them carry out the next sevice. They also said that rather than waste valuble riding time they would collect the bike from home whilst I was at work and return it (120m round trip) free of charge.
We also spoke about Screaming Eagle down loads and Fuel computers like the power commander etc and he did say that unlike the after market products the Harley software fuels the rear cylinder different to the front cylinder where the rear is slightly more richer to cool the cylinder down whereas most after market products fuel both cylinders the same beit lean or rich. This turned into a very interesting conversation and you can guess where the next service will be done !
So the moral in the story is that there are still some very good dealers out there but its a pity the one on my doorstep is total crap
Btw...........the PowerCommander tunes each cylinder independently also
