Default Motorcycle Value Program

Has anyone signed up for the Motorcycle Value Program that the dealers are starting to roll out? Here is the link to my dealer. http://www.thewoodlandsmvp.com/main.php

My dealer is offering the same plan. It probable depends on how much you plan on buying from them. Go to Boswell HD website in Nashville TN. They do not offer that plan and try to explain why they do not. Might help you make an educated decision.

Ride Safe...

I got the MVP when I purchased my ride. I like the discount at my local dealer and it is amazing how fast you can rack up the points buying stuff. 15% off parts and merchandise is nothing to sneeze at. If it fits you wallet it is not a bad deal. Only you can be the judge of thie "value".

I joined at my dealer and it's already paid for itself with my Blade wheel purchase.

Got mine when I bought my bike. It paid for itself a couple, of times over right there in the showroom, 'cause I bought a bunch of accessories with the bike. The extra discounts are worthwhile, too, becuse some dealers offer MVP-only sales on parts and accessories. The only downside I've found is that not many dealers participate yet.

This a joke right? Dealers want you to pay $80 so that you can get up to a 15% discount. Dealers like Chicago Harley and Surdyke with give you 20% (and no sales tax) without ever having to step into their dealership? It also looks like this doesn't apply to service. If that is the case, then this is a bad deal.

IMO. your paying to get a discount. You have to spend almost $700 to break even. They wouldn't be doing it if they didn't make $$ on it. I may be wrong but I wait for the sale days when everyone gets the discount or I buy online.

Bingo! Ain't no such thing as a free lunch. Most folks aren't going to go to all the work necessary to get to the 15% discount, and if you DO, they've already made several thousand dollars off you.

As an example, buying a brand new CVO will only get you halfway to the Gold membership level. And if you DO manage to reach that coveted Gold level, you darned well better keep it up.

Reading the FAQs, the way they roll points is interesting. If you earn enough points to hit a membership level during an "MVP Year" (starts August 1st), you'll retain that membership level for the immediately following year. However, you only keep points you've earned over the minimum required for your level - so if you earn 65 points during the first year, you're Gold level. When Year 2 starts, you're still Gold, but all you get to keep are the points you earned past the Gold minimum. So you start Year 2 as a Gold member with 5 points. Better start earning those points back if you want to keep that Gold status! If you don't do anything to hit Gold again, you'll enter Year 3 as a Club member.

Edit: Oh, this gets better! You ONLY gather points at your home dealership, and your Bronze/Silver/Gold discount won't be honored at any other dealership. If you go to another MVP dealership, you just get the traveling 11% discount rate.

Signed up w/MVP over year ago....really racked up points when I bought a new bike and financed it thru Eaglemark,,made it to Gold level,,,15%,,,,sometimes more when they have sales and give a bonus to MVP members. Keep in mind making sure your points get noted is up to you in some cases...such as getting service done and getting points,,,my dealer doesn't automatically log the points-I have to ask them to do it or otherwise it never gets logged.

Drawback is that you lose points at a certain time of the year and your level will change if you don't stay very much involved with the dealer (buy lotsa stuff, go on sponsored rides, volunteer for events, etc)

Not a bad deal overall IMHO,,,some discount is better than no discount (11% is where everybody starts and it stays at that level as long as you let it,,only way to raise it is to buy stuff or get involved)
