Unhappy Hog held hostage!

Here is my story...My tour pak has a spider web type crack in the lid, so being that it is still under warranty I decided to take it to the dealer and see if they would fix my problem before more cracking and chipping set in. We they agreed to fix it under warranty so while the family and I planned to go on vacation in March I scheduled the job be done while I am a week on vacation. Drop the scoot off at the dealer the day before we take off (Tuesday) and would not be returning until that Sunday. Figured it would be ready Today (Tuesday) so I called the dealer they have me on hold for 15 minutes and the need to call over to the painter to see how things are going. they don't have the Crimson Red paint in and it has not arrived yet! Looks like it might be Friday but things are up in the air. This sucks!!!!! Wish I would have had the detach set up

Did you tell the shop that you'll be on vacationand won't need the bike for a while?

I did not give them that idea at all! I guess I now understand that the Crimson Red paint has to go through security clearance and then curred for several days and then go through a cooling process that will bring it to room temperature. After this it goes through a taste test before it is shipped out. I have to agree that this is the fine wine of colors. I must wait for the aging process, huh!

Hey, be glad you're getting it covered under warranty. I've started to hear some horror stories of the MoCo tightening the reigns on ANY warranty work. Doesn't surprise me, but hard to imagine it could get any tighter.

With my recent accident, the dealer had to order several parts. The painted parts took the longest to get (tank and front fender). Everything else they had to order seems to come in within 4 or 5 days. I was supprised at how fast they got the parts.

Seems to me they could have told you the paint had to be ordered and then you could drop the bike off when it came in. I hate leaving my bike at the shop for any length of time.

Something doesn't add up here. Painted parts are ordered already painted...I've not heard of dealers painting parts on such a new bike. That being said, HD paint shop stuff usually takes upwards of ten weeks.

Took them 13 weeks on the tank for my CrossBones...

Such service... It would make a Russian proud...

As far as I know they order the painted parts from MoCo,usually takes about 6-8 weeks.
