The Fulmer is wayy better than the Daytona. Bigger shell overall, but more comfortable and more proportionate. Just picked up a vintage Buco, and the difference in height is not really that great.

I've owned the Daytona 3/4, the Biltwell, and the HD Carbon 1/2 and I finally found the perfect helmet for me which is the Fulmer V2. I live in SC and don't have to wear a lid if I don't want to but the Fulmer is so comfortable I really don't mind wearing it. IMO, if you're going to wear a helmet, it's pretty silly to wear a non-DOT helmet. Here's my V2 which was pinstriped and silver leafed by Koolhand Luke at Imperial House.

That pinstriping looks good!

I met a guy yesterday that has the Fulmer Captain America helmet. He took 150 grain sandpaper to it, which took off the shine and gave it a weathered look. Real nice. I wonder if that look would work on the flake?

Anyone has pictures using a Davida 3/4 Classic Jet? I prefer the Fulmer, but, since I live in Brazil, I have to buy online...

Thanks Tony.

I don't think sanding the gloss down on a flake helmet would look very good. The flake is beneath the gloss and if the gloss gets "milky" and dull from sanding it wouldn't look like flake anymore IMO. If you want a weathered look in a flake helmet you'd be better off dragging it behind your bike for a couple blocks to get it scratched and dinged up...

As long as I'm not wearing it at the time, maybe I'll try that...

Not me. Sorry, when I got my FXDB, it was a toss up between buying the bike, or a Davida Jet Helmet. I got the bike because it cost less, LOL..

Current "old school" helmets aren't really "old school". Only the general shape is similar, but dimensions are different and modern DOT ones are much bigger as they have much thicker impact lining.
I have one, and use it in very hot weather as the added benefit of better breathing and less heath in the face balances the minor protection (in fact, you risk very BAD things if you hit with your face.).
Whenever possible, though, I use a full face. Good ole times gone by are good mostly because they are gon by.
Modern technology offers better protection on roads that have become much more dangerous than the roads of the '70s.
I want to improve my chances as much as I can, and the helmet you choose is one of the few factors you can control completely, if ever you get into an accident. So, control it wisely.
