engine missing
I have an 86 883 that i placed into a bobber i built 2 years ago.
recently took it into the shop to be dyno tuned, everything went well
When i picked it up they told me the charging system was not well, the battery was not charging, however it ran great going home and for a couple more days.
I rode it several days later
Stopped to get gas turned it off and guess what the battery was dead
Put a quick charge on it got it home, went through the clymer manual, stator is putting out correct voltage as engine revs up
did not see any shorts to ground and resistance looks to be in requried range,
The voltage at the battery does not increase upon acceleration, and in fact dropped to 11.10vdc
All of a sudden on saturday started it, got down the street and it started to back fire and miss
Am i looking at a faulty voltage reg? Would that cause engine to miss?
Starting to learn more and more now that i have put the bike together, however electrcial area is new turf.
thanks

Welcome to the forums! Sorry you haven't gotten any responses (only been a couple of hours, tho).
I would suggest you cut and paste your message into either the Sporty forums or the DIY forums...you'll get plenty of responses in those places.
Good luck!

According to 'what' you've posted, IMFUO, it's the reg.
IF the stator is INDEED putting out, BUT you are NOT reading 14 + or - at the batt, reg.
NEW batt at the same time. SAVE yourself another 'debacle'.
THAT'S my opinion based on your post.
Check ALL your connections whilst you are digging in there.
Yes, low voltage 'can' lead to missing, BUT usually with the 'brain box', when the voltage drops too low, it jus' 'quits'.
