Yesterday while my wife was riding her '08 Deluxe, everything engine related shut-down. I managed to get it going again and we brought it home. I initially thought she had hit the kill switch without knowing it. We took it out again and the same thing happened. Brought it back home. I ran the diagnostic mode on it and got the P1351-Front Ignition Coil Driver Open/Low and P1354- Rear Ignition Coil Driver Open/Low. What is the significance of these codes. I checked for loose connections and everything seems tight The bike has about 14,000 on it and is still under warranty but I would like to have an idea as to what is going on before I decide whether to take it in. I`ve worked on bikes all my life. Started out on a '62 Pan, but these new computer control systems have me buffaloed. Will probably talk to the shop today but would like any input on what might be going on. Thanks in advance.
Yeah I figured it out. The positive lead on the starter had gotten a little loose. This caused a split second arc, power loss, or whatever you want to call it. When it did, it threw the 'Coil low voltage' codes. This split second interruption of electric power caused the shutdown. Turning the switch off and then on, reset the system until it happened again. Tightened the connections and it hasn`t happened again. Have put about 4,000 miles on it since this incident with no problems.
Thanks! I checked mine and it's tight. I did find some corrosion and water in that boot, though. Been a good bit of rain here lately and I seem to find myself out in it.
