Default Indy says no

I called one of the local indy shops this morning, tell him, I have new HD rear wheel and HD install kit, I need the tire removed from my old wheel and mounted on the new one and have the install kit installed.
The guys say, I do not work on any parts that were not purchased from me. I just said, do not worry about it I wont ever be buying anything from you now, Thank you.
It was kinda funny I would of bought a new front tire from him to mount on the new wheel. My old tire I wanted to keep because it is nearly new.
It was not a safety issue, just greed, and it cost him my future business.

Business must be good for him. Normally thats a dealer attitude, the independents want the labor hours. Go figure.

They have the policy for a reason. Take some eggs to your local restaurant and ask for an omelet. You don't have to like it but many shops will do the same. I've had customers ask me to install their stuff and I always tell them it's going to cost whether it works or not. They've probably been burned a few too many times.

Yes that is poor biz judgment. Indys need to sell parts to make money too but hey in a recession like this who in their right mind is gonna turn down any business?

Why didnt you have the work done where you bought the parts?

Why didnt you buy the parts from the indy?

In a recession like this, a business that sells parts needs to sell parts, not install their competitors parts.

typical for auto shops half income is labor half is parts . I would think MC shop would be similar. we tell our customers we will do it but labor goes up and no warranty on parts. even if it's the same brand we sell. no repair shop likes it.
