You guys are exactly right... more damage to my ego versus the bike... didn't leave it in gear like I KNOW to do... didn't really make sure the stand was locked... it just goes to show that sometimes you get preoccupied and/or in a hurry and forget that "1 thing" that leads to what happened.
Now-- if i were to spend $35 on a new "chrome thingy" to make the bike look flashier, I wouldn't give it a second thought... but every time I see that stupid left turn signal I'm going to have a few choice words float through my head!
I ain't been ridin' these new fangled street bikes all that long... but I've learned this already: ALWAYS have the tail of the bike on the downgrade side when parking,
Thus gravity pulls the bike AGAINST the kickstand lock. I only back into a parking spot IF doing so places the rear of the bike on the downgrade.

I was a crazy kid (some say I still am) and got into the habit of parking nose out in 1st gear (fast getaway) regardless of a little fwd slope and making sure the side-to-side slope is okay after the stand is in the locked mode. Fast arrival isn't important to me .
I'll bet most everybody hear has had to muscle one of these beasts back on two wheels at least once.It makes you a better person, you just learned what not to do.

Had something like that happen within the first week I had the bike. But it was in my garage and I was still on it as it went down.
But I was fortunate in that there was an old bedroom dresser right next to me at the time, it made things harder for me because I couldn't get out of the bikes way and I ended up with my leg stuck between the two.
But it also slowed and cushioned the fall preventing it from hitting the floor and damaging either one of us.
Now I MAKE DAMN SURE the stand is really down & locked before I get off.

Yea - I actually heard of someone trying to ride off with his forks still locked.... What a maroon.
That is one of the lessons I learned with my cheap first bike! It started raining while I was at work and I ran out and got on it fast and went to take off and put it undercover, didn't unlock the forks, took off quickly, flopped her over real quick! Just one more reason to buy a cheap bike first then upgrade after you learn a few valuable lessons!
