Default Wife found her bike

Met the wife at the local HD dealer to get her a new helmet. Next thing I know she's sitting on a nightster saying "This is the one you can get me for my birthday". I always wanted her to get her own but, I thought we start her out on a used one first... I guess I was wrong. Well, the up side is, if she don't really want to be on her own, I'll have a cool sportster as a second. hahaha

She took the Riders Edge course a few years back and always wanted her own. I guess it's time to shiat or get off the pot.

What bike did she ride for the "Rider's Edge" course?

It may still be a smart move to find her a Rebel to ride for this season. Sportsters are top heavy, and that 1200 will have lots of power that she's not used to.

I may have to try that little trick with my wife.

Well congrats that the wife will be riding with you and all, whether its used or not its still a good thing, I honestly think as long as she took the rider course she should be fine. As for what Danny said, I understand what he's saying and all but IMO Only WE can control how much power the bike gets and thats with our wrist ..Congrats anyhow tho and ride safe

I agree with Danny, She will need a lot of practice to get used to the higher weight and power. Which is fine, of course. Only problem is that every "wife" I have known who has gotten a Sportster has dropped them at least once. Just saw a lady lay hers down in a field here a few weeks ago just trying to turn around with her feet down.

Just saying I'd recommend used, before it becomes "used".

I've seen grown men do the same thing with a new bike too.

Got the same advise from a friend when my wife expressed an interest in her own. We bought her a used Honda Shadow which she rode for a year and then we sold for about $500 less than we paid for it. She like the idea because if she did drop the bike while putting some miles under her belt, the repairs would be a lot cheaper, and the lighter weight helped her build more confidence when she would get close to dropping it and pull off the save.
