Pay It Forward Experiment -- got $2?
Here's the stipulation: The person has to post and tell the community what they're wanting to do or repair on their bike and the money has to go to those repairs or upgrades. Will there be people that abuse it? Maybe. But maybe I'm being overzealous that the majority of people on here are good people.
EXAMPLE: "Hey all, I hit a pothole that dented my rim and blew my tire. It's going to cost $500 to replace the rim and tire. My PayPal account is rimlessinCA@yahoo.com"
If 250 people gave $2, this rider gets his stuff fixed and they're back on the road. This will go for anyone needing repairs and/or upgrades!
If I wanted new braided cables for my bike I might say, "I'm looking to upgrade my cables to braided cables. The cost is $400. I have $100 and short the other $300. My PayPal account is braidedcablesarecool@gmail.com , I get my cables and I'm out $100. -- However, I would feel compelled to donate $10-15 per month over the next year to help other riders. (I didn't have it all right then but I can give back over 12 months)
I think that people can give more money when it's spread over time but it helps everyone right now. If I gave $15 per week ($2 here, $3 there) I help multiple people and it helps everyone. Make sense?
Maybe it's the vodka/red bull's I'm drinking that's making me think this is genius but I just think it could work.
Hell, if I gave out $500 over a year and a half, but I benefited by one $600 upgrade or repairs.. I'm still ahead and I've helped a fellow rider.
Feel free to flame away but I think this could work...

I think we got allot of hot air here but not allot actual do it.
Just a thought. I would be willing to pay even for upgrades that someone wants because there might be a time that I want something that I don't have the cash...
