Go to Laconia instead, same distance for you and they like us.
Actually, alot of the folk there hate us. But they tolerate us because they like our money. (I get this from a couple different friends who own property up there). Many Laconia residents, like Myrtle Beach residents also hate the noise, rude behavior (one huge problem apparently is bikers using their lawns as toilets!), etc. But these residents just choose to vacate their homes for a week and come back when it's all over. They'd rather do that than put a stop to the event. Smart people.
"We went to the Rally in Myrtle last weekend and left after 3 days. Paid for our room for nine days. Boy, they got what they wanted down there. The cops are picking on the bikers, making it so you can't have a good time. Setting the bikers up with road blocks, smell of beer, going to jail, tail light out, getting a hefty fine, UNBELIEVABLE! We got married there last year, went for the ninth year in a row, won't EVER go back!"

As we left it seemed that a lot of bikes were headed in.
I was gonna ride down to look for some stuff (seats, rain suits, etc) will pass...i will ride Saturday to the New Bern event to check it out. Won tickets today from the radio station...wife and i will cage it Friday night and i will ride the bike Saturday....M-Beach was kind of over rated to me anyway... ijust went to see the vendors but even last year the number of vendors was way down from previous years...I just hate to be stuck in traffic and cooking my nuts on the bike....i take the back roads in and same out.
The check points they're talking about are in the MB city limits. There's nothing going on in MB anyway so stay far away. Went to Surfside beach Tues and stopped at a restaurant to meet up with some friend and thought the place was closed. Usually packed but only 12 in there. Everything is in North Myrtle Beach area and have some things going on at the racetrack.
It was early and weather cool but not as many bikers on the road as past rallys
I'm thinkin bout going to MB again this year, getting me one of them "old man" halloween masks, hoping on a golf cart and driving it through the damned grocery store! My bud suggested I not do that because he could just see the headlines in the paper the next day: "Mean Biker Gang runs local man off the road and into grocery store"
I've been here all week. The stories are GROSSLY exagerated.
Inside the actual city limits of MB...nothing going on. A lot of businesses have formed together and filed a lawsuit against their city government so they don't have to endure this nonsense next year.
Most of the rally was outside these city limits ANYWAYS so it really isn't that big of a deal.
I've yet to see a "checkpoint" and the riding has been great. The attendance is positively way down but still a LOT of bikes, lots of riding and so far a lot of fun.

Would you leave your house for a week knowing that people were using your lawn for a toilet? I would be in my lawn chair with my shotgun telling them to stay the f*** off my property!
