We have been down in North Myrtle Beach for 6 days now. We have not been in Myrtle Beach and I would recommend that you don't go in the city limits. However, in NMB and Surfside, and outher southern locations, things are OK. Attendance is down but thats not such a bad thing. Vendors are about half. Still having fun. Things in the county is fine. All road block safety checks are in the city. Just don't go there. We are welcomed by all the residents and businesses. I have even had stranger (non-biker people) come up to me and apologize for the actions of the Myrtle Beach mayor and others. This is still a great place to ride and have fun.......

Its only 3hrs and I doubt it will be as packed as in the past.

Just dont wait to leave until mid day Sunday. You will regret it, we did.
There's 4 or 5 of us that are planning to be leaving early Saturday morning...from...Zebulon. (small world) Going just for the day.
The first week is always slower there. This weekend is when it usually picks up. I'm not worried one bit about any cops down there as we're staying out of the city limits.

OH, you must be from Myrtle Beach, huh??? I believe that's what they're doing.

IMFUO, someone down there musta 'fingered' it out. For whatever reason (???? ) Myrtle Beach is running "Vaction HERE" ads, WAY UP HERE in Minnesota. THAT has NEVER happened, B4. Been tv, radio, and print ads, all over, the past week or so. BUT NO mention of 'bikes welcome', like SoDak, Wi., Iowa, run in their ads. Myrtle Beach is running 'beach' and 'golf' ads in theirs.

"F" Myrtle Beach. They'd have to send me a personal invite, just to show up, let alone, spend any of my $$ there. THAT ain't gonna happen, so, neither am I.

I am NOT saying they do not have a legitimate beotch, just that I feel they went at it a li'l heavy handed. Sturgis went thru this, years and years ago. But 'cooler' heads prevailed, and compromises made. Think Buffalo Chip and Glencoe. They moved IT (party, puking, pottying and "pubic" nudity) to private property. Keep it there, and you are FREE to roam, jus' like the buffalo.
But to be fair, Sturgis makes the VAST majority of their $$, from the rally. NOT a lot of golfers running 'round out there. THANK GOD!!!!! We shipped ALL them, AND the snowbird silverhairs, to MYRTLE BEACH!!!!!! (OR Arizona and Florida ) YOU RIDE with them!!!!!!

Most of what you read is BS. But if you're here for BBW you can expect some of this. Not only do you have the bikers but also all the 16 to 20 year olds that come to party in their CARS.
MB is afraid of the NAACP so that had to attack the HD rally so as to make them not look so bad.

We just got back after 6 days there. Inside MB city limits looks like a ghost town. Rode thru city limits a few times, one of our guys had no helmet on, cop pulls him over, told him to put his helmet on , says have a good time and the cop left. Saw no roadblocks at all.
lots of cops just watching.
The new Beaver Bar is nice, just down the street from the old one. Outside City limits everything is normal bike week stuff. Talked with a few store owners from MB, they are
ready to give the mayor the boot.

We rode about 500 miles while down there, no issues at all.

No, I'd probably be more likely to do it your way! But I HAVE been told by people I know up there that some residents do just vacate for the week. Then you have the residents that live year round up there that vacate for the week so they can RENT their house out. If you're lucky enough to get people in there that don't trash the place, that's a pretty good idea! You get to leave the area and not deal with what annoys you, have someone in the house so your property isn't vacant (which could be a problem), AND make some money. See - that's what I mean - smart people!
