So, MB bike week is this week ... anyone been down there or have info on whats going on? Understand they have "checkpoints" set up. Thinking about going this weekend just for a couple of hours. Any info would be helpful to decide whether its worth it.
I went through Conway yesterday, didn't go for any rally functions.
There were many electronic signs on 501 about checkpoints with "helmet and eyewear" required. I didn't actually see any road blocks, but I didn't go into MB.
There was a high LEO presence in the area, but I didn't see anybody getting pulled over or having an issue.
I came back north via 701 and passed lots and lots of trailers and maybe 100 bikes heading south.
There seemed to many less than the same time last year, but I only got a small view. I've talked to some people around here and they all seem to have a "wait and see" attitude. Waiting on reports for the weekend. If it gets busy they will go, if not they will head someplace else.
Anybody heading down 95- Slow down around the I-40 merge. There have been many NC State troopers in that area recently.
WTF I was down in 2003 and things weren't that bad. What happen, did the city get taken over by the "I hate biker" people? I don't do many rallies because I don't like crowds, but I had a ball at this one. I was planning on going back soon, but not if its like this.

Apparently you have been living in a cave. Do a search on Myrtle Beach. I do believe they HAVE been taken over by "I hate biker" people.

Go to Laconia instead, same distance for you and they like us.
Planning on going down to Raeford Friday night and leave from there early Saturday. Its only a couple hours from there ... plan on returning in the afternoon. But if I'm gonna get hassled constantly ... think I'll pass. Hoping to get more feedback as we get closer to the weekend.

Just got back after four days there. First time at this rally so I can't compare to previous years but from what others were saying attendance is down around 40%. Rumors everywhere about checkpoints and massive amounts of tickets being written but we rode over 200 miles in the area and never saw anyone being ticketed or any checkpoints nor did we meet anyone who did so i'm guessing that its just that, rumors. As we left it seemed that a lot of bikes were headed in.
