You can take a regular pair of jeans and put deerskin panels in them yourself. All you need is some deerskin and a good rubber cement. Good thick deerskin will protect knees and butt, and it is washable. I have a friend that repairs holes in his jeans this way, as well.
I've got a pair of draggin jeans and although they aren't cheap they did work well for me on my last ride. Feels wierd at first with those kevlar panels in there but by the end of the ride I didn't even notice them.

I dont know what to make of all this. Guess I will have to reflect while riding the RK in shorts. Hopefully no bugs will hit me in the leg and cause injury. Just ride.
