Default left side disk brake bikes???

Hey All,

was there left side disk brake bike made???... i suspect it's no..but figured i'd ask anyway. I have a 67 ironhead franken bike project with what i think are early 70's wheels and duel disks... a left side forward control with master cylinder that i could mod to fit would be a good thing.

If not, i am looking at taking a right side brake one apart and having a custom control made or maybe mount the master cyl. on the frame and mod a control with a long rod to acuate the plunger?????... any ideas... anyone wanna fab. me a custom left side forward brake control for disk brakes???

don't everyone speak up an once. lol

thanks
tr

I don't know if I fully understand your question or not. Others might be having the same problem. However the XL 1200 C Sportster's front and rear brake are both on the left side.

I think you would be better served to convert the shifter to the left side and put a "conventional" right side master on it . If I'm not mistaked there should a kit avaliable to do so. If not I think a 1975 was kinda of a factory conversion from right shift to left shift.

Yes, there were Sporties that had been converted to a left side master cylinder for the rear brake. Look at the rigid Sporty in my pics and you'll see one. If you contact this guy, http://www.fabkevin.com/ , he'll be able to work something out with you. Don't convert the bike to left side shift. The first Sporties with the left side shifts were very sloppy due to the Rube Goldberg linkage needed for the conversion.

good word.. thanks for the link pococj. although this will be more of a custom than anything else, i still want to stay with the original shift / brake config... a nod to nostaliga if nothing else.

thanks again

whaap - the controls not the calipers... but thanks for the response.
