Always hilarious...
I don't ever recall having to (or wanting to) sell anyone on why I ride what I ride , but I sure get an ear full from non HD riders giving me all of the "reasons" they ride what they ride, which usually includes something about price, quality or some other reason which makes them feel better about "their" bike.
This is my first HD (FXD), after 25 years of metrics. I love this bike (I have loved all of my bikes, as much as a man can love a piece of machinery anyway), but won't buy another HD. I plan to keep this one, and maybe buy another sport bike in the future. I never cared what another man thought of my bike(s) and certainly never cared what another man chose as his bike.
I have spent more time typing this than I have spent in my entire life wondering or worrying about what another man chose to spend his money on, or why.
If you really didn't care, you would have never posted in the first place.
I get the reason why you have so much pride in your bike. Write a post about that pride and leave the bashing of "others" out of it.
Ride safe and enjoy your ride.
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
We're scheduling a ride Sunday with another couple who has a metric cruiser and this is one of those guys who's gotta make the excuses, even though, I'd bet a hundred bucks, that he really wants the real deal. Now I get an email from my woman telling me this guy is thinking of switching from metric cruiser to Goldwing. Naturally, my woman is looking out for her friend and told her that he should get a Harley, specifically a Road King, but that's just the wrong kind of bike for somebody wanting a Harley. If you're going from metric cruiser to Goldwing, that's almost a total reversal from ever even wanting a Harley. So I replied to her with this:
"The Honda Goldwing is for predictable people. They like a motorcycling experience that has no surprises whatsoever. The bike purrs underneath them like a latte machine or electric lawnmower. The Goldwing's appearance doesn't get anybody excited, nor does it worry anyone. The rider is usually an upscale type of guy or gal that is polite and lives life on the mild side. Most of the people who want a bike like this can never imagine themselves on a Harley Davidson Motorcycle."
"The Harley Davidson is not for predictable, staid people. The Harley Davidson rider wants the riding experience to be something larger than life. The bike does not purr like a kitten, but issues a pounding beat of two primitive cylinders thumping to the rhythym of life. The appearance of a Harley Davidson has 106 years of History behind it, since the first one rolled out of a shack in Milwaukee Wisconson, back in 1903. It is a rolling work of art, a blend of chrome and paint that excites the senses. The rider can be from a wide ranging and eye opening varieties of backgrounds, from upscale rider in black leathers, to blue collar guy, to 1% biker outlaw, they all share the same thing, their love of the brand, good or bad, that's known as a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Most of the people on a Harley Davidson, cannot imagine themselves having anything else, except if it's a secondary bike."
When I meet up with them, I'm going to highly recommend the Goldwing. My woman will be on the 03' Deuce and I'll be on my 03' FXST and neither one sounds polite... Oh well. <8^)
You can't be serious! Go back and finish high school or at least get a GED.
The only thing that your post and others like it educates me on is the fact that a lot of HD riders are just as ignorant as a lot of the metric riders are. This thread proves it!
