I've learned over the years that you need to have the attitude that "everyone is out to hit you".
Obviously not everyone is, but if you ride like they are, you will probably be fine. And remember, a car is always gonna win over a bike. Don't try and prove anything. Just get out of their way however you can and let them go. It may hurt your pride but just might save your life.
