Rx riding glasses - issue
Unfortunately it looks like WileyX doesn't do the mail-order perscriptions anymore. When I need to replace them, my main criteria for the lenses (other than the person knows what they are doing) is that the lens material be suitable for motorcycle wear.
The picture attached is me wearing them to give you an idea of what they look like.
did they warn you that you might get distortion based on your rx and the frames you selected?
did they ask for your PD or pupillary distance? if so, are you sure you gave them the correct measurements of the PD? this is how far apart your pupils are from each other or the center line, so they know where to put the focal point as you look straight out for optimal optics, so i've been told...
Also, which company said they could do you right the first time w/ no distortion? even if you obviously don't want to take on that expense after the fact, those of us shopping now might benefit to know who else to consider that may have a better process...
I'd like to know some of those answers, and I hope some of the questions help you, as well as others' posts. Let us know how it turns out, or if you learn anything about better questions to ask before buying next time. Thanks.
I have sort of a wide head, and a high/flat prescription. The only frames my local eye doc can do for me are either an insert, or a frame too small for my head. I've talked to other local places who even claim to do high rx motorcycle glasses, but they don't sound too confident about their process for what I want, or can't do it at all. So for the pro-eye-doc people, that doesn't work for all of us, since a lot of docs work w/ a certain lab that may not have the process/equipment needed to do what we need done, and may not be comfortable dealing w/ a third party lab, or jack up the price so high it's not even possible, might as well get lasik at that point.
For my rx, I've talked to several of the online companies, and the only one that seems to have any true confidence in their process for wrap frames w/ high rx (-5.25 sphere both eyes for me) is heavyglare.com, I've talked to sportrx, rx-safety, anysunglasses, and others. If anyone else has suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

They are tight fitting to my face. My eyes don't like wind much and these don't allow much circulation. The downside is they fog up at times. But I can deal with that. I use them for boating as well.
Any good eyeglass shop will have a good selection of frames. I got mine at a place called Eyestyles for Lifestyles.
Mine are on the less expensive side, they also carry designer glasses such as Chrome Hearts and other name brands.
Started a similar thread that went nowhere, but this one seems to be doing well.
I had the same problem. Had to turn my head to see well. After all this time, I got to say the SG1's are great. I've got yellow lenses for night that brighten everything up. You will get used to them after a while.
Incidently, the SG1's are made for people with fat heads which I don't have. They don't work well without my helmet as they will slide over my ears. Also, if you use the strap to make them true goggles the RX will be so distorted that they will give you a headache.
Like I say, I think they are great but I will switch to something that fits better next time.
