finding a dash panel.

I have a 2001 fxdp. Unfortunately it still has the ugly black bulky plastic looking tank panel. I would love to replace this piece with chrome or a nicer looking black. Anyone have any ideas of where i might find something to fit my bike. The gas tank has the ignition switch in the center and that is the only thing that needs to be fitted in the panel. Also I bought a leather tank panel extension so I just need to cover the front of the tank and the ignition switch,

Yeah I thought about trying to make one. I used to work in a machine shop when I was younger, but im no professional. How did yours turn out?
