IF You Are One Of These.....
Saturday was Momma's 50th. Had a surprise party planned, and we went to the Cities for "RIDE FOR WISHES" (Make a Wish Foundation).
I'm guessing 200 or so scoots.
When group riding, I always wait til the tail end.
A. I like ALL the action going on in front of me.
B. With a 45 yr old scoot, I don't want to hold things up, if it takes a chit on me.
C. I have one drum brake, so I NEED more stopping distance. I don't expect other's to know that, so I steer clear to avoid catastrophe.
D. Momma's a rookie, on a new(different) scoot, I want to keep her out of sticky situations, for now.
Well, there happens to be 6 or 7 Boss Hoss's in the mix. Second stop, they hang back, and Momma and I pull in behind 'the herd', only to have these guys pull out behind us.
Didn't take me very long to figure out, what they were about.
They'd drop back a bit, then light up the rear tire. Could hear them back there.
We are on some rather curvey, ROUGH AZZED roads, and a BIG mix of riders. We are slowing and downshifting at the end of a rather long stretch of straight stretch, when all of a sudden I hear BIG TIRE, LOCKED UP, SLIDING. I turned just as he was about to collect Momma's back tire. (We ride side by side) He let's off just soon enough to get it on the shoulder, and ends up passing her, on the right. Then starts laughing and looking back at his buds.
They all start laughing and pointing at each other, etc. We made it 'round the curves, and back on a straight stretch. I pulled in front of Momma, slowed, turned around, pointed at him, and motioned for him and his buds to GET THE "F" in front of us. They flip me off, and just hang back. WRONG. The chop is long enough to block the road. So we had a rather unhealthy discussion right there on the road.
The organizers had 2 chase vehicles, which are now in the mix. They saw what had transpired. The 4 that were doing the burn outs in the crowd, were politely asked to leave. They copped an attitude towards the organizers, and refused. Not sure just how the 'rest went', we pulled out and caught up with 'the herd'. Next stop, the chase vehicles pulled in, No Boss Hoss A**es around.
I've owned big inch motors. I'd LOVE to have a Buell to play with. Walt stops over with his Boss Hoss, a few times a summer, for coffee and a ride. BUT for Heaven's sake, a group ride is NO PLACE to be playing hot dog. USE YOUR FRIGGIN' NOGGIN!!!
For you peeps 'round the TC area, IF you know Boss Hoss's, then you know Marv. Thinkin' he'd be REAL impressed with this display and debacle. 2 of them were flying his shop's "colors" (jackets), so I am 'guessing' they were there to 'advertise', they do that. GOOD ADVERTISING, getting kicked out of a charity ride.

OKAY, Gumby's Grumblings OVER.
It seems like every year, security has to toss out people for doing wheelies ,burnouts or acting like azzhats in line.I've seen them wheelin' in the oncoming lanes, seeing how far up the line they can go!! It's usually young first-timers with crotch-rockets.Needless to say, they don't get a second chance.Screwing around in a line of bikes can take out ten/twenty bikes in a heart-beat.
Runs usually bring out at least one azz-hat with something to prove...It's too bad,I've had friends hit the bushes because of these clowns,I've also seem clowns with black-eyes!!
I can't stand unsafe, attention seeking rubs on bikes.

There is nothing like riding in a tight formation with a pack of experienced
riders using hand signals, etc. Unfortunatley, if something does happen it
usually involves more that one rider as happened near Whites Ferry in MD
this past weekend when a Fire Truck not on call crossed the center line in
a turn and injured 5 bikers in a pack. Fortunately nobody was killed.
