Now don't be a hatin' motordrum. Life's too short. Go ride your scoot. Wimpshield optional.

I took off my detachable windshield yesterday and did about a 125 miles on winding country roads. The first thing I noticed was a complete absence of the annoying buffeting that would sometime blur my vision. I have foam lined glasses and ear protection, so there were no wind problems whatsoever. I'm almost 53 years old and run 16" ape hangers. I will put the shield back on for longer trips, but for something in the 100-200 mile range...the shield will stay off.

You're right Max, ear plugs would have cut alot of the sensory overload from the wind noise as that was certainly the worst of it.

I've been riding 15 years and haven't been on a bike that had a shield. I don't know what I'm missing, so I don't have the desire to get one. I didn't have the desire for bags either, and now they only come off for cleaning. I'm afraid the same thing could happen with a quick detachable shield too...

Well here is my opinion. I rode for years with out one. This last bike didn't have one on it ether. I was riding and a dump truck past me going the other way and I got smacked in the mouth by a rock (been hit by bugs before no biggy but a rock **** that), hurt like hell. So after a few weeks I found one on here and I bought it. I really enjoy riding alot more with it on cuts down on the wind noise, after a long ride i feel better (less tired I'm 46). So for me it's a win.

I love mine, but it is detachable. I sometimes ride aound town without it. I wouldn't leave home on a long trip without it. It's saved me from a lot of bug kill and rocks in the face.
