Find a decent used 1200, great starter bike. Then upgrade, if you spend the money right you'll get it back no problem.

If you want a Sportster get it ... Been riding them since 1970 and have owned them right on up until a few months ago .. Will agree 1200 is the way to go but if truly strapped pricewise can get a 883 and do the Big Bore down the line ....

ever heard of a Gorilla ****ing a football, that comes to mind..

You can see one U like and maybe iis less money, but U really have to sit on one and ride it if possible to get any kind of feel for yourself,.

I love the Heritage, and it fills many roles, as it comes with bags, and shield.

I baught an 883 Iron back in April. It's my first bike and I'm new to riding overall. I'm a hair under 5'10 and as mentionned by someone else, I max out the mid controls. I had planned to replace them with forward controls, but have gotten used to having the pegs underneath me so I can easily get my butt off the seat when I can't avoid a bump in the road.

I've increased the power a bit with a high flow air intake and v&h short shots, but honestly, I really don't know the difference as I haven't ridden anything else. (I'm fine with the power I've got for now).

I'm 215lbs, and it seems to handle my weight just fine. Again, I don't have much to compare it to, but with that said, I love my bike, I have a blast riding it and I think it looks and sounds awesome.

Whatever you do...buy what feels right for you. You'll never know for sure until you get out and ride. HAVE FUN!!

Personally, at 6'3" everything is going to look small. Average height is like 5'9". There is no big and tall shop for motorcycles, they're built for the average person.

what type of riding do you want to do? long hauls or short rides. i wish i would have bought a bagger for my first harley. they're too expensive to make mistakes when buying. even on short rides i find myself taking a back pack with me. it sucks.
