dude you can always chop out your sportster an you can only get the long lean old school chopper look on a sportster or custom look alike frame. thats the beauty of all harleys is there is such a huge custom market for us when we wanna chop that fukkn sportster!!! the sportster website gets so much more involved this aspect than this one the buell website really doesn't **** around when they go chopper. the buell website is probably THE site for serious sportster nuts cuz thats where ALL the advanced shiit seems to come out of years before the harley sites start sharing the same info. so if U really want a HD thats custom fitted to your body chopping yer frame or buy a chopper frame n sell yer old one is an awesome option.

What would be a good starter Harley for a very inexperianced rider like myself?

The closest dealership to me is about 50 miles away, so I want a good idea in my head when i get there as to what i want/need.

Thanks in advance for the help.
Back in the late 50's, the Sportster was a real mans bike, and the guys then probably didn't think the bikes were too tiny for them.

I would get a used 883 Sportster for my very first Harley if it was going to be my very first motorcycle as well.

Road King is the best bike for the money IMHO. People think they need a small bike to start off with big mistake for a big man. The RK is the easiest handling and riding bike.

Haven't gone through all the post, but I would say an 883 would be way small. May want to look at 1200 or even better a Dyna. Good luck and let's see the pics when you decide.

Great advice. I went out and bought a Harley a month and a half ago without trying any of them out. Traded it in a couple weeks later for a Crossbones because the first one I bought wasn't comfortable. Don't do what I did!
