I have a friend who just purchased a new Harley trike. He rode it to the house yesterday and let me take it for a test ride.Man is it different. It took 15 minutes to quit fighting it and make myself lean away from the turn. I don’t think I would like going thru the twisties with it. It does have a lot of power with the 103 cubes. I guess if I couldn’t hold a 2 wheeler up I might consider one but that would be the only way.

My wife's interested in a trike but $30,000 seems crazy to me. I would rather her just get a convertable sports car for that much money. What's the point if you can't lean into turns anyway? I wouldn't mind a good detachable side car for my Heritage then at least she would feel comfortable riding and I could take it off when I am solo, which is 99% of the time. Just don't get the whole trike thing.
I talked to a couple on a new Tri-Glide this weekend. They are in the 'fighting it' stage but were getting used to it quickly. He said it feels like they are going to go through front tires like babies go through diapers.
Due to physical problems, without the trike they wouldn't be out riding, seems like a good choice to me.

Motorcycle tires are meant to lean, but on a trike, they get steared. I would think all trikes would have this problem. I don't know if anyone makes a trike specific front tire.
You would think for 30k it would come with an independent rear suspension. Which would probably help with steering and handling. I guess if H-D did that if would be 45k or more. However it is good that they designed it for riders that still want to ride but may not be able to due to physical limitations and or disabilities.
what is this lean away from the turn. I've rode 3 wheeler dirt trikes and we got low and leaned inward and could really improve their turning speeds.
why would Harleys trike or any trike be any different?

I am no physics major by any means and this is entirely my own opinion. When I leaned into a turn with the bike or sat straight, it did not want to turn. I would have to slow to 5 miles an hour, and fight it around a corner or end up over a curb. Leaning against the turn or shifting my weight in the opposite direction, the bike turned much easier and at higher speeds. I don't have an answer for it, but took a lot of getting use to it.

I saw my first Tri-Glide at Zion HD in southern Utah this week. Certainly an interesting vehicle.
I used to have the same opinion about trikes and sports cars. Why by a trike instead of a sports car. But then a guy on a trike set me straight. Guys buy a trike instead of a sports car for one reason ...
Other riders don't want a sport car tagging along ... but a trike is okay.
The trike I sat on was almost $35k (dealer had about $1500 in crap on it) ... and the salesman (a guy I've bought 2 bikes from) said the dealer will not come down on the price. Tri-Glides are limited. They only got 2 and 1 was already sold with a down payment on the one I was sitting on.
