I own a 1998 Fatboy and have been seriously considering upgrading my engine from the stock evo. I want more horsepower and a new look.
My question is; Can you suggest a brand + model along with a size?
I'm not looking for a monster here just some ideas on something that's not too much money and would be nice to show off.
Thank you for your help.
Get a nice S&S 124" for $7500 or so...if you go smaller you don't save much. Stay away from revtec and Ultima though. You can as well rebuild your motor and bring it up to a 100" or so...need to know how many miles on the motor, etc. S&S makes some great kits. If you want to do it right, visit the web site for Patrick Racing. It's like **** for motor heads...Patrick's makes the very best motors in the world if you really wanna go fast but also has some good kits for power. Throw a few grand into that sucker...Mikuni carb, stroker kit, new lower end...if you wanna just have a good solid motor with good power, S&S.
Re-build the existing Engine, there are a ton of upgrades out there from mild to very wild. S&S has a lot of hot set up kits like cheesecake said, screaming eagle has several also.
OK so it looks like most feel I should keep the evo engine and use S&S to add some of their upgrades.....I don't have a problem with that.
I do realize and understand how some feel that this is the easiest and safest way to go and probably the cheapest way to start.
Alright, with that said can you walk me thru some of the upgrades I should look at?
* I already have a Baker DD6 transmission installed and an Andrews Carb that was insalled back in 1999 but it seems to work fine.
No major work like to my heads or anything.
Thanks again.

The only problem with adding non Harley parts to your motor,is that if you are traveling and something happens, good luck, the dealers I have seen don't carry that stuff.By and large I would rather deal with a Harley dealer on the road than a indy.I had a friend that thought he was doing a big deal by putting gear drive cams in his 88,only to have a problem with them 800 miles from home, ended up at a Harley dealer, guess what,he is back to chain drive, dealer didn't carry S&S anything
So if I went thru HD, just to play it save in case I have future problems, what should I look for at HD that is similar to what S&S carries?
