FF here . .HJC model . . with Detachable HD Windshield. .the only feature is an internal set of sunglasses that deploy while riding. I don't have any complaints but wish it had some built in speakers for the radio.

On really windy days I notice buffetting, BUT it's still much better than w/o windshield . . .was amazed that I could do 600 mile days on this bike w/o any major discomfort.

I've always worn FF so I don't notice anything wrt to heat, etc. I do need to check out those EXO Scorpions it sounds like.

Have a good one,
Dave

I wear one (EXO Scorpion - with a inside flip-down smoked sunshade in addition to the clear full visor). I'm constantly flipping the visor up at stops but other than then, I keep it pretty much down. I wear it to keep the noise down, provide a bit more protection, and lastly - it's amazing the amount and size of the bugs I have to clean off that thing after a long ride...

If you are up north or in Canada (way up north) then you can wear a full face all summer but here for example it will be almost 100 degrees Saturday with the humidity in the 90% ...That is just out of the question...Shorty and 6" windshield....

i went thru a short period of being bothered by the wind noise... I put cotton in my ears or little foam ear plugs... perfect.. the windshield provides a nice smooth ride for sure... but, there's something about riding without it that I can't live without!

Rode with the scorpion for the first time today. Definitely quieter then my bosses helmet. No wind noise from the bottom, but a little from the visor near the temples. It seems the shield doesn't form with the ruber near that area, so it doesn't have a full seal, which is the first I've seen on a visor. Overall I'm happy with it and a lot quieter then the half helmet for my everyday 64 mile round trip. For weekend rides I'll probably wear the half with my ear plugs.

Always wear a FF helmet. I find they work quite well to reduce wind noise. Without my helmet, once I hit 50, the wind noise in my ears pretty much drowns out everything - at 60 or better, forget about hearing anything. With my FF on, wind noise isn't an issue, unless I ride with the face shield open - then it makes a whistling noise at 40 and above.

Default Huh?

I use a FF most of the time.. due to the wind, bugs, and even the sun on long rides. I have looked like rudolph or rocky the racoon plenty of times.
Sunscreen helps...as long as you remember it.
For quick trips or just around town, I leave the helmet at home.

I bought a $60 DOT helmet and yes it has a little noise. It's very comfortable though, and serves the purpose quite nicely....and if someone steals it, I'm not gonna stroke out.
I like to listen to music as well, but i have to turn it up so loud to hear, its really almost annoying after a while....plus I like being a little more aware of sounds around me. (like horns blowing or tires screeching......or bumblebees humming towards me at an incredible rate of speed)
Regular earplugs do help to keep the ride more enjoyable and protects your hearing a little more than nothing at all, or just the helmet, or very loud music.

I have worked for 22 years with ladies who are Speech and Hearing specialists....and i can tell you we are all damaging our hearing on these bikes with the loud pipes and the wind.

Part of it though I reckon... mmm hmmm.

I've got a 3/4 Scorpion with a full face shield. Works great a keeping the noise to an acceptable level, has vents front and rear, you can easily open the face shield a little for the extra airflow in hot weather, or to talk to a buddy at a traffic light.

I use a tool bag mounted high, above the headlight to help control wind buffeting. Seems to work pretty well.

The Scorpion scores well on both safety and comfort. It's also cheaper the the HD helmet.

I've had full face helmets, 1/2 helmets, etc., and I like the 3/4 best.
