nah.... don't need new seals either..... and just run your old oil through a coffee filter and you'll be good to go.

I just don't understand someone who will pay upwards of $20k for a bike then be a cheapskate when it comes to $20 worth of clamps..... imo!

You don't have to, but it is recommended. I always get new gaskets and stuff. Cheap and worth it.

I live in Ireland, new clamps are nearly Ł40.00 here ($60+)...I have to swop my exhausts over each year for the bikes annual inspection, it's a 2000 bike, so the original clamps heve been re used at least a dozen times with no problems. I'd rather spend the money on something useful instead of throwing it to the MoCo.

Just my thoughts...

Better safe then sorry. Less than $20.00.

See the threads regarding Slip Off Mufflers.

Default No, you do not

They are very sturdy and there is nothing in the metal band that
changes from use to use. Except may they stretch a little which
should not matter unless they will not tighten down enough
but I have never had that happen.
Of course if thay are rusted or stripped then I would use new ones.

Ok, let's be real for the guy, seals and oil filters do not come under the same category as clamps. Clamps can be reused unless there is something actually wrong with them, they don't just wear out after one use. That would be like saying you need to replace the saddlebag pins every time you remove your bags .........

When I put slip-ons on my dyna, I didn't use new clamps.

Be careful when ya unbolt them, they're self locking nuts, not the kind that have the nylon in them, the other kind that have "dimple" if you will. Some times the will strip the threads when you take them off.

When I used my old clamps, I had to check them a couple of times to make sure they were tight enough, I guess I overtightend one of the , and when I went to yake off the muffler to change a new tire, it broke the bolt, had to get a new clamp anyway.

I guess what I'm tryin to say is, you'll probably get away with using the old clamps, guess ya just gotta take the chances.

Good luck.

Man, I'd be sellin' mine, cause I'd be BROKE, IF I had to replace the clamps EVERYTIME I pulled the exhaust. Sometimes multiple times a season.
Need to, to get rear ax out, in order to scuff rear brake shoes, which I do every several hundred miles. It's my ONLY brake, and I keep it top notch, out of necessity.
And the clamps have been on there, since I bought it and rebuilt it, over 10 years ago. AND still look good, too. NOW, in ALL fairness, I have replaced the bolt and nut a couple of times, BUT that was for "looks", NOT failure.
