Default $7000: Which bike to get (new or used)?

You only have $7000 to spend on a bike. Which one would you get (new or used)? What would you consider to be the most bike for the money?

Me? New only. I don't like buying used bikes.

I'd first decide on the bike I want and then find one within my price range. If what I want is not in my price range, I would either save and wait until I can afford what I want, or buy a different model knowing when I am able to I will sell that and buy another. I find no problem buying a used bike and there are tons of Harley's for sale in excellent condition all the time. It all boils down to finances.

Lots of good low mileage Sporty's around for under 7K. Nothing wrong with a clean low mileage bike that someone else took the "out the door" hit on.

I just bought this 99 Softail Custom with 17,000 miles on it on e-bay. My son and I had to drive 550 miles to pick it up, but it was a great deal. I got it for $7,100 and it is really cherry. The guy I bought it from was super to deal with and even thru in a new back tire. This after the deal was already made. I have put a 1,000 miles on it so far and it runs great. It was exactly what I was looking for so took the plunge. There are some really good deals out there right now if you take your time and look them over close.

I would definately go used. I have seen a lot of good deals on used Harleys lately. Just be sure to look the bike over well and test ride it before buying. If they refuse test rides then tell them you want to take it to a shop and have it looked over. If they refuse both they are hiding something IMO.
