Jacket question
I was out today with the Fatboy,put a jacket on in the morning . When got up to 50 mph it felt like a wind sail. It was a good waterproof jacket.Took jacket off ,rode with sweatshirt and was fine. My question is will a leather jacket or one of those protective jackets help that? Sorry if dumb question ,but before I buy a $300 plus jacket I want to make sure I can use it.I really do not want to put windshield on.Thanks

A heavy leather jacket will not act like a sail. Make sure the place you buy it from has a return policy. I bought a textile jacket once and on the ride home I realized it acted like a sail and tried to pull my arms off the handle bars. Brought it right back to the store within 10 minutes and they refused to give me a refund. I have never gone back there, which is a shame because it's an independant store that is really hurting for business right now.

I agree with others. I used to just wear regular jackets and the sail problem just iritated me. I bought a leather jacket at wilsons, a cheaper one, and no more sail problem. I would just make sure it is a good fit.

It was not a motorcycle jacket, Thanks I will try them on before I ride.

A lot of times the jacket acts like a sail from the wind coming up the sleeves of the jacket if they're not closed up. Like others said, motorcycle jackets let you cinch these up pretty tight.

You won't have that problem with a motorcycle jacket, textile or leather. When you go to buy one, check the sleeve length with your arms straight out in front of you (like you are riding). The jacket sleeves will be a little too long when you aren't riding.
