I got mine from a friend when I first got my Harley. Tradition...maybe. Luck...I hope so. If only that deer could have heard it! But I am ok, bikes back and looking better and I am still riding. Good luck to all this year bell or not. Ride safe!
I received one for Christmas from my wife and am quite excited to place it on my Deluxe. Can anyone help me with a good location to hang it?
Thanks and Merry Christmas everyone!
Mine hangs on the base of the right engine guard. You can hear it jingle once in awhile and it's not so low it'll get ripped off in a tight, sweeping turn.
Yeah. I was at the flea market and saw a box of bells. I told the lady that I'd have to get me one someday. She said, "Oh, I'll just give you one of those." I said, "Do you know what you just did?. They say that if it's given to you, it gives you more good luck." She smiled and I thanked her. Lucky so far.

Hey all - first post since joining - have enjoyed all the threads, but this is the first I have felt compelled to contribute to - - I got my first HD (07 superglide) in June and was given bell by friends that ride - wife got her first street bike in July (08 Heritage) and I gave her a bell - - I find the gremlins story entertaining, but what I value most is that everytime I hear it or see it, it reminds me that I have friends that care about me and are sending positive thoughts my way for a safe ride - and that reminds me to be alert - so in a round about way, it is works as intended - - Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good ride!
According to all the service guys I know most of the bikes that come in totaled or badly damaged have bells on them. I am going to go with the odds and ride bell free.
