Is this something that can be done and if so by who? Thanks for the help.

I did mine on last bike. Masked off the whole thing. Used an electric jigsaw and went real slow. Sanded the edge and then ran some Methyl Ethyl Keytone along the cut edge and it came up as nice and smooth as a factory windshield.

There is no coating. Its lexan.

I cut my HD brand windshield down 4 inches. It came out beautiful.
I say again, there is no coating

Easy enough to do. I removed mine from my fairing, placed masking tape on it and drew a new line then using my band saw, cut it to size then used a mill file to smooth it down.

Just cut 3" off mine this winter, taped it all up and laid out to the contour I wanted,

I was a Sheet metal, Millwright, Carpenter, Welder by trade at GM so it was hard to do.

The secret I found to cut it was using a ROTO_ZIP high speed cutter instead of a saw, It cut the Lexan like butter. Do a couple practice runs in the area Ur scraping and go slow.
When done use a file to smooth edges...
