I got tinnitus for 30 years. Hearing loss also. About 3-4 years ago, started to wear a small conventional hearing aid in my left ear. Last year, had to get one for my right. The doc suggested a Lyric hearing aid. It fits way inside the ear canal semi-permanently and needs to be professionally replaced every 2-3 months.
There's mostly good things about the Lyric, some bad (you need a deep ear canal for it to fit), but the doc said it may help the ringing in the ears. In fact, the ringing in the ear with the Lyric is mostly gone.
The Lyric is pricy, but you may want to talk to an audiologist about it. I like it.
If it is tinnitus then it is here to stay. The doc told me to protect my hearing as much as possible from now on so it doesn't get worse. I use ear plugs for riding and anything that is loud. A good book on the subject is "Tinnitus" by Richard Hallam.
I have it too and you do kind of get use to it unless you are just sitting or lying still and have nothing to focus on but the ringing. My ringing has gotten worse over the years as my hearing has gotten worse (one ear). Wearing a hearing aid helps a lot. It not only helps with hearing normal sounds but it makes the ringing less noticeable.
i had it for years and was starting to have trouble passing the Army flight physical every year. i heard that caffeine was an caused hunger in some and depressed hunger in others. in 1993 in an attempt to lose weight i stopped using all products that had caffeine. i had a miserable week of withdrawal BUT at the end of the week my ear ringing was gone and has not came back. my next flight physical was better than several years before. worth a try.

Just kidding! I've had the ringing in my ears ever since I was a kid, and stupid enough to shoot handguns without ear protection. After a while you don't think about it--it's always there, but I've gotten to a point that if I don't think about it, I don't hear it.
****--thanks a lot, because now I'm thinking about it!!! AGGGGHH, THE RINGING IS DRIVING ME CRAZY......
