This is a direct result of Richard Quigley vs CHP. This suit was won by Quigley and a blow has handed to the CA. Helmet law. It is interesting reading if you would like to know the full story. Just Google, Quigley vs CHP and read to your hearts content.

I guess if wearing a novelty helmet is your thing then it's your brains spilled on the road not mine so go for it.

It's a step in the right direction. Full repeal of the helmet law would be much better but this is good.

One step forward, a million steps back. I don't even want to get started, but I hate CA politics (politicians). At least we still don't have smog checks or annual inspections for our bikes, plus great riding weather year-round (other folks measure riding in "seasons", we measure in 12-month periods) and great varieties of places to ride/things to see.

been riding since the late 60's always wanted to try riding while wearing a helmet just ain't never got around to it
