Looking to stop at a picturesque town, maybe even a B&B if I can afford it..not cheap according to the various website..
Can anyone reccomend a real nice stop over? I am thinking off off route 1 and either Belfast, Camden, or Rockland..or..?
I traveled up to Maine a couple of years ago during Columbus day weekend.
We stayed at a nice place, good food, close to Acadia National Park. You'll need reservations though I'm certain.
There was a recent thread that covers a lot of good suggestions along the coast. If your heading up as far as Bar Harbor I'd hit Boothbay Harbor, Camden, Castine, along the way.I,m typing on a crackberry which is a paine or I'd give you more detail,

thanks- I think I will do one night in Bar Harbor and the other in Boothbay or further south? Not sure about spending either 2-3 nights in Maine as I want to do a bit of NH as well..
It is a beautiful state to ride in.Just a warning the Rte 1 traffic through Wisscasset is a real pain. This time of year traffic backups last most of the day and are usually 2 or 3 miles long and lately longer than that.If you make it up there in the early morning or say after 6:00pm you should drive right through.Good Luck and have fun
If you stay in Bar Harbor I strongly suggest you check out Aysgarth Station BB. The owners are super nice and give a 5% HOG members discount. The breakfasts are unbelieveable!
We stayed there last year and we intended to ride up to the top of Cadillac Mountain to see the sunrise (very cool thing to do!). When we got up at 0 dark thirty, there was a thermos of coffee and 2 stadium blankets set out for us. They let me park my bike in their garage and even provided me with the things I needed to give the bike a bath. www.aysgarth.com
