A downward peace sign to other cruisers and a prissy regal wave to Wingers...just to let them know I recognized a difference as we pass.
I don't usually wave at crouch rockets. I pretend they don't exist. I would however stop and help any biker in distress.
Just a quick flick of the wrist with an open hand a few inches off the left grip. I've waved that way my whole life no matter what I was driving so it just seems more natural to me. I'll occasionally leave my hand in the low vee position if I meet a big group and they're all waving.

No offence, but it's people like you that is the reason I don't wave first. If I wave, it's low, at the 8 o'clock, arm extended. Crotch rockets don't wave because I'm on a cruiser, metrics don't wave because my bike is loud like a Harley should be, Harley riders don't wave because mine is water cooled or because I've relocated the turn signals to the tree and the lights say "Metric". I don't care though, because it's the bike I wanted and the bike I have a hellova time riding. This is just my area, maybe it's different elsewhere.
But you are right on one point, and I have to commend you on this--I, as well, always stop if the vehicle has less than four wheels.

I really don't care if people wave at you or me. It seems to be a point of contention in a lot of circumstances.
My choice not to wave at crotch rockets is a conscious decision to discriminate against a particular style of riding exhibited by the maority of the CR riders in my area. It's extrememely dangerous to everyone near and especially to themselves, it's unnecessary and is basically the wrong equipment in the wrong place (public highways). It also does nothing for public acceptance of the riding community. It's not the riders per sa but the style of riding on public highways. I don't wish any rider to go down... it's just here at the Tail of the Dragon you get to see so many being hauled away. It's truly tragic. So, I'll continue protest their presence by not waving. I also have a simular distain for the noisy little cars zooming through traffic as if they're in the movie "The Fast and The Furious".
