Hell, I wave or nod at everyone not only other bikers but people on mopeds or scooters too. Maybe thats all they can afford. At least they are up on 2 wheels and enjoying life. Who am I to judge someone else. The wave or nod is just a freindly jesture. I live in the country and I've had bikers wave to me while I'm cutting the grass on my tractor and I wave back. As for the correct way to wave, there isnt any. If Thumper29 neighbor got in his face for not waving correctly she sadly enough is one of those people who just dont "get it "and never will...............BG
I really don't care if people wave at you or me. It seems to be a point of contention in a lot of circumstances.
My choice not to wave at crotch rockets is a conscious decision to discriminate against a particular style of riding exhibited by the maority of the CR riders in my area. It's extrememely dangerous to everyone near and especially to themselves, it's unnecessary and is basically the wrong equipment in the wrong place (public highways). It also does nothing for public acceptance of the riding community. It's not the riders per sa but the style of riding on public highways. I don't wish any rider to go down... it's just here at the Tail of the Dragon you get to see so many being hauled away. It's truly tragic. So, I'll continue protest their presence by not waving. I also have a simular distain for the noisy little cars zooming through traffic as if they're in the movie "The Fast and The Furious".
Like I said, no offense was taken nor intended. I certainly agree with your views, as that style of operation occurs around here as well. But I have always understood the wave to be a recognition of another two-wheeler on the road. Like BigGeorge, I use to wave at everyone but do not now. As I said, I uderstand it to be a recognition thing. Continue your passive distain for the CR riders, but I doubt they will ever learn to ride in a more civilized maner until they have more pride for themselves, their surroundings and the machine they operate. I had to climb off one and buy a real bike to learn that.
Well my wave would be the Harley hang so to speak, Kinda like the peace sign @ about 7 o'clock I guess. An occasional nod of the head depending on where I'm riding. I will always wave at all bikes If I'm not sight seeing and see um wave at me.

Usually the low v. I wave at all bikers, although most don't wave back because my Super Glide T-Sport dosen't "look" like a H-D from the front, I guess they are just "RUB's/Posers". As I pass by and blip the throttle some will look over their shoulder as to say, "da*m that was a Harley"...%&*$ posers.

I wave at all bikes but suspect that i don't get several waves back for the same reason, was that a Harley??? To me who cares what type of bike it is but a lot of folks do seem to care or maybe folks just don't like to wave in this area, not sure which. I bet 50% don't wave back but then that's not why i wave so who cares.
70's was left arm up always, now a days 7 oclock seems to be the norm so i use that one.

Everybody gets the 7`o clock wave or the nod if I'm busy or close, regardless of what they're on. Can't really classify the ones that don't as anything but dorks. Seems to be they ride a little bit of everything and aren't confined to any particular ride.
