Default Now that's hard core!

So me and the misses are 300 miles from home the other day waiting out some intense thunderstorms. Checking in to the hotel the night before I see another HD in the parking lot. Well, this crappy morning it's still raining, but I know it's only about an hour before blue skies on the back side of this nasty line. We're heading west and the weather's moving east-northeast carrying heavy rain and lightning. Well, I see this old dude about 70 fire up his hog and I give him a thumbs-up as he pulls out. He shuts off the bike and we small talk for a good 10 minutes. Here's the kicker, he's on his way to Nova Scotia and needed to make it to Rhode Island by evening. We're about 1 1/2 hours se of Cleveland at the time. He just says "makes you appreciate the sunny days a little more". He drives off with some blaring country/western garbage after we tell each other to be safe. I just hope I can still ride when I'm 70!

It is not fun to ride in the rain, but if you must, you must. Been there done that.

+2.......I have several friends in their early 70's that still log a lot of long distance miles. One even did the 4 corners of the U.S. on a Sportster several years ago.

It isn't so much about age as it is experience. That guy no doubt has been riding a long long time, and has seen it all, and learned how to deal with it. With proper gear, weather may slow you down some, but shouldn't stop you (unless it is snowy/icy).

My riding buddy is 71 and I'm almost 68. We'll ride as long as we can be safe doing it.
