Sundance, Wyoming Should Re-think Policies
It appears that the slogan is now just something they print on t-shirts. Hulett cracked down on any form of nudity several years back, so the word spread that Sundance was a better place to go. At yesterday's burnout contest, I personally heard the cops tell one of the people in charge that there would be "zero tolerence". After the cop left I asked the manager what that was all about, and he said that several years ago, the wet t-shirt contest quickly became a no-tshirt contest and one of the contestants turned around and faced the booth where the local high school band was selling bottled water, so they decided the best idea was to use the cops to strictly enforce the law.
I get it, high school kids don't need to see that. But lets face it, in a town of about 1000 people, EVERYBODY knows what it's all about and if you don't want to see it, DONT GO DOWNTOWN. Or...
Instead, how about closing the booths down early? The contests didn't start till 4pm and by that time the only thing being bought is beer.
Instead, put a backdrop on the stage so that the booths behind the stage wouldn't be "exposed"?
This is a huge moneymaker for a small town, and if they don't want to kill it they need to find a way to keep the locals happy without involving the cops.
[edit: I just copied the Sundance Chamber of Commerce on the above]

If the residents think their offspring haven't seen bare ***** they should ride the band bus home some night from an out of town football game. Hell, I'm 72 and even back in my day we looked forward to away games and about all you could hear on the way home was heavy breathing and zippers.
Buffalo Chip is what downtown, used to was, when I first started going to Sturgis.
The tab for the LEOs got TOO BIG, so, move it to private property, and YOU pay for the security, or lack thereof.
Plus, they have turned downtown into a Vegas. Bring the kids, the dog, and wander aimlessly thru the crowd, of T shirt vendors.
NOT that there is anything wrong with that. Jus' sayin'.
Now they fine ya, for bare breasts. TMK, you can still get by with 'body paint', it's opaque. Buddy's wife, got a ticket out there couple years back, for wearing a fishnet top while walking the 'beat'. Evidentally, NOT opaque, enough.

I was there this year (and every year for about the last 20 or so) and it wasn't any different than any other year. The cops were exactly the same as they always are. They have always tried to enforce the no-nipple thing and generally are pretty easy going and good humored. Every year you hear the same bs that they are shutting it all down but that's not the case.
Call them bible-thumpers, prudes or whatever but I wonder how many communities are allowing wet t-shirt contests on a raised platform in the middle of a public street in their towns?
Not sure what you expect them to allow but my thought is support what they do and maybe it will continue.
