Helmets for Pedestrians

It's amazing how the state gov'ts. cite closed head injuries on bicycles and motorcycles. But there is no talk of closed head injuries in cars or trucks. I'm sure that happens when someone smacks a door post or something during an accident. Peds with helmets? Don't mention that in California.

doesn't it seem odd that i can go out to the shop and get my harley out and go riding without a helmet on. but the minute i get in my car, that seatbelt had better be fastened. i am not in favor of helmet laws at all. freedom of choice is what this country was built on, and i almost always wear a helmet unless i'm riding three blocks to a friends house.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, vehicle occupants accounted for 74 percent of traffic deaths in 2007. Motorcycle riders accounted for 13 percent of deaths. Pedestrians accounted for another 11 percent; pedalcyclists and other nonoccupants accounted for the remainder.
