I got screwed today. I have been pulled over many times in my life. I have always been nothing but 100% respectful and honest and nothing was different this time. Yesterday on the way to work I came upon stopped traffic on I-87 in the Bronx, NY. I split lanes for about 100 yards when a highway patrolman entering the highway saw me, sped around traffic, cut in front of me and made a traffic stop. He asked for my license and registration. I gave it to him along with my FDNY ID card. He took the card, said "I dont want this" and threw it onto the street. He never asked for proof of insurance. He told me to take off my helmet so that he could inspect it. Then said "This isnt a DOT helmet" and threw that on the ground. The he went to his cruiser and wrote me 11! ELEVEN!!!!! tickets, and had my motorcycle impounded. I got tickets for...
1) No signal for lane change left to center
2) No signal for lane change center to right
3) No signal for lane change right to center
4) No signal for lane change center to left
5) Non DOT helmet
6) Loud pipes
7) Riding with one hand on the handlebars
8) Improperly mounted license plate
9) No license plate light
10) Splitting lanes
11) No insurance...and I had my insurance card right there with me and handed it to him. But he said I didnt hand it to him with my license and registration so I would have to photocopy it and send it in.
My license is 100% clean. Not a single ticket, no accidents, not even a parking ticket. Im absolutely flabbergasted. If anyone knows of a good lawyer with motorcycle experience in the NYC area, please let me know.
If I were him I would have tasered you.....just to wipe the smug look off your face that you probably had when you handed him the FDNY card like it was supposed to be some kind of get out of jail free card.
No judge in his right mind is going to hold you for all that....known as "stacking charges". Go to court...be sure you write everything down and tell your story...I would suspect that most if not all of it will be dismissed.
"I gave it to him along with my FDNY ID card." ? Is that like a get out of jail card ?
Maybe his wife was banging a biker AND a fireman!
He was way out of line throwing your card and your HELMET on the ground, I'd definately be up someones ***, and pressing charges on him for willful distruction of property, and contact IA and see if you can get him investigated for improper proceedure, and abbuse of power.

Yep, sounds like you've been bent over by a cop with a chip on his shoulder for bikers or FDNY.
Gotta go to court with that one. Probably merge most. Maybe your union rep can contact their's and make sure there's no "war" going on between your agencies.
Worse scumbag in the world wouldn't get a handful of tickets like that. Why hammer a working stiff.
