Hey guys I have a 09 heritage and the last 5 or 6 times I've got gas, when I stand the bike up it leaks fuel out from around the gas cap. Now I know your thinking like I am, its being overfilled, but today when I put gas in it I left it at least 3in lower than I normaly fill it up and as soon as I got on the bike and stood it up out comes the gas from under the cap and all down the side of my tank!
I have filled it up in the past to much higher levels and this didn't happen, and now its a everytime I fill up thing. The cap is on tight, one click just like the manual says. This is getting old, I'm gonna take it to the dealership tommorrow but I wanted to run it by ya'll and see what you thought.
I am curious to know what you find out. Once, after filling the 03RK last week, it began leaking fuel out the gas cap. Very annoying. It was a very hot day and the bike sat in the sun for 3 hours before I noticed the leaking.
I thought the fuel vent was supposed to deal with the expansion pressure and that the tank should have enough headroom and cap should remain sealed.

mine did that a couple of times, I wiped around the filler neck on the tank and the gasget on the cap, never found anything but it quit leaking so there must have been somthing there.

My wife has an '09 Heritage that had the same problem. The dealer swore up and down that she was overfilling it and tried to chew me out for complaing about it. He finally gave us a new gas cap and the problem stopped. The trouble is, about once a year I have to buy a new gas cap. After about a year the problem comes back. I tried just buying a new gasket, but it seems like only a whole new cap works. Several people in our area that have Heritages have the same problem.
